About us
We are a Reformed congregation in the Paintsville, Kentucky area committed to the faithful preaching of God’s Word, the pure worship of the triune God, and the building up of Christ’s people in truth and love.
Rooted in the historic Reformed faith, we hold to the doctrines of grace and seek to order our worship according to the Regulative Principle. We practice the baptism of believers and their children and observe the Lord’s Supper as a means of grace.
In a culture marked by confusion and compromise, we are resolved to proclaim the whole counsel of God both the law that exposes sin and the gospel that offers salvation in Jesus Christ. We desire to grow in the knowledge of Christ, stand firm on the unchanging truths of Scripture
The Great Commission
We are an evangelistic church. We go into the public square to preach the gospel because this is the clear pattern of Scripture. The Old Testament prophets proclaimed God’s word at the gates and wherever the people were at. Jesus Himself taught and preached openly in the synagogues, the temple courts, and the streets. The apostles continued this same practice, reasoning daily in the marketplaces and public assemblies of the cities they entered. We follow this biblical model with conviction and passion. Public proclamation of the gospel is not optional for us it is essential to who we are.
Patriarchal
We affirm the patriarchal order as God’s good and wise design for human life. From the beginning, Scripture reveals that God created man first and gave him headship in the home, the church, and the broader society. This is not a product of culture or tradition, but the created order established by God Himself.
In the family, the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 5:23). In the church, qualified men are appointed to the offices of elder and deacon, while women are not permitted to teach or exercise authority over men (1 Timothy 2:12; 3:1–13). This same pattern of male leadership appears throughout the history of redemption in the patriarchs, the priesthood, the kings of Israel, and the apostolic ministry.
We reject the modern rejection of this order as rebellion against the Creator. God’s design is not oppressive but protective, fruitful, and life-giving. Therefore, we gladly embrace and teach the biblical calling of men to lead with humility, courage, and sacrificial love in every sphere of life entrusted to them.
Minister
Rev. Joshua Hastings is a husband and father of nine. He has been establishing roots here in eastern Kentucky, with a desire to see the people of Appalachia grow in the knowledge of Christ.
